PMFME (Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises)

What is PMFME?

PMFME stands for Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises. It is a Government of India scheme launched in 2020 by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan.

The scheme supports small and micro food processing businesses such as pickle making, dairy products, spices, bakery, snacks, fruit processing, etc. It helps them become organized businesses and grow with financial and technical support.

Main Objectives

  • Formalize unorganized micro food processing units
  • Provide financial assistance and subsidy
  • Improve food safety, quality, and packaging
  • Support branding and marketing of local products
  • Promote One District One Product (ODOP) concept
  • Generate employment in rural areas

    • Up to ₹10 lakh subsidy per unit for upgrading or setting up food processing units.

  • Target: Support about 2 lakh micro food processing units in India.
